Paris Pics

I took these pictures of the Napoleon Quarters on a recent trip to Paris. This extensive collection is now housed in a wing of the Louvre. The scale of the rooms is breathtaking, these are largest chandeliers I have ever seen.

The detail on the ceiling is exquisite. It may be a little over the top for today's tastes but you can appreciate the craftsmanship.

This much photographed building is "classic Paris". I coudn't resist looking like a complete tourist and taking some of my own pictures.

Stag Decor

The above two images are of the divine Les Granges d'en Haut ski lodge in France. This luxury resort has stunning views over Mont Blanc. A great place to ski and be pampered in the world class spa.

Renowned Melbourne design firm HP&G designed these rooms for the new Fjall apartments in Falls Creek. The timber panels in the bedroom add a sense of warmth and texture to an otherwise stark room. The wooden deer head and antler light accentuate the height of the vaulted ceiling. Those of you who know me, know what a sucker I am for a vaulted roof line like this.

Panelling Perfection

Panelling would have to take the prize for my favourite architectural detail. I am in the process of having my formal lounge and dining room panelled in a similar circular design to this door.

The combination of the two shades of grey accentuating the detailing in these panelled walls is enough to make my heart skip a beat! Who says grey is dull?

Bisazza Bath

I knew as soon as I saw my client's bathroom and she said she wanted "glamour" that I would use Bisazza tiles in the renovation. While looking through the Bisazza catalouge I came across this free standing claw foot bath, isn't it divine. I'm not 100% sure yet if I'm going to specify the wall tiles in the first or final image, which ones do you prefer?

Bathroom Bliss

I'm currently working on a bathroom renovation for a client with a exquisite home overlooking Sydney harbour. I'm infatuated with this range of console vanities by Studio Bagno, check them out. I have used the vanity in the fourth image before and was thrilled with the results.

Designers Guild

A friend recently gave me a gift from the Designers Guild home accessory and fragrance range. I regularly use the silk cushions in schemes for clients, they really make a room pop with colour. The embroided silk fabric cushions and scented candles are a great treat for anyone.

While down in Melbourne for Designex I caught up with Suzette the talented creator behind Town & Country Style. I'm sure you will agree that she has more style in the tip of her little finger then most people have in their entire body.

Nothing is more inviting then a beautiful diamond buttoned chair. This one above from Vangard reminds me of the one I have in my study. I love to curl up in it at the end of a long day and doze off (really I should be sorting out my invoices but I just can't help it invoices are so boring).

Melbourne, Shopping Heaven

Somers General Store on the Mornington Peninsula. I wanted to take the antler mirror home with me.

While wandering the streets of Melbourne on my recent Designex visit I came across this irresitable goodies store, il migliore on High St Armadale. The store is painted in hot pink and instantly catches your eye.

look how beautifully they wrapped my small purchase of chocolate dipped orange slices. It's so nice to see shopkeepers who clearly have a passion for their store and produce.

Metalic Textiles

I am back from designex with lots of images, here is the first look. There were two main trends that emerged this year, "organic chic" and "over the top glamour". It's quite ironic really given that both trends are in such stark contrast to each other. I personally believe that you shouldn't take trends too seriously, good taste never goes out of style! If you love it then it belongs in your home no matter what anyone says.
